We’re looking for an engineer to help define the future of password management, enhance the experience of signing in to apps and websites, and lead the world to a more secure future with passkeys. The team owns the Passwords app, Password AutoFill, developer APIs, and other features integrated into iOS and macOS apps. Together, we’ll improve people’s security, privacy, and quality of life as they create accounts for and sign into the apps and websites they use every day.
As an Authentication Experience Engineer, you will invent new features and take them through the software development process, spanning from prototyping, coding, debugging, and through to shipping and communicating their story. You will empathize with the people who will use the software and listen to their feedback to improve existing features and help decide where the team’s attention should go next. Throughout the process, you will work closely with the rest of the team and with other teams, including the security, privacy, and human interface design teams.
- Designing and maintaining the password management stack, from the user experience in the cross-platform SwiftUI Passwords app down to the credential storage strategy in iCloud Keychain.
- Developing new authentication APIs in our public frameworks.
- Crafting the vision for the future of authentication and moving the world on to passkeys.
- Improving the AutoFill experience for filling credentials in apps and websites.
- Collaborating with partner teams, such as Security, Design, and Product Marketing, to deliver new features.
- Building sustainable architectures and developing test suites to improve and defend quality of our features.
- Excellent communication skills
- Detailed knowledge of any one of: Objective-C, Swift, C++
- Strong programming, debugging, and problem solving skills
- Ability to work with cross-functional partners in engineering as well as project management, design, and marketing
- Experience mentoring other engineers
- Experience driving cross-functional projects from inception to release
- Experience with user interface development with UIKit, AppKit or SwiftUI
- Comfort evaluating ideas from both a usability and security perspective
