About the role!
The Field Service Engineer is responsible for the installation, repair, preventive maintenance (PM), and qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) of advanced analytical instruments—including ACQUITY HPLC/UPLC systems—at customer sites and in-house.
What you’ll do
- Perform installation, calibration, repair, and preventive maintenance on Waters ACQUITY HPLC/UPLC, and related analytical instruments (e.g., Agilent, Shimadzu, Thermo, Dionex).
- Execute IQ/OQ/PQ qualification protocols and maintain compliance with GMP, GLP, and safety standards.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot operational problems on complex laboratory equipment, including GC, LC, UPLC, and related peripherals (e.g., headspace, autosamplers).
- Complete detailed service reports and documentation for each service ticket and regulatory submission.
- Maintain strong customer relationships and identify business opportunities for service growth.
- Participate in the growth of the region and company by supporting business development initiatives.
- Travel to various customer locations as required; overnight travel may be necessary.
- High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 2-3 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered. Must have appropriate license or certification where required by law.
- Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
- Ability to use existing procedures to solve standard problems.
- Experience with analyzing information and standard practices to make judgments.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mindset.
- Intermediate math skills. Ability to calculate difficult figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial related calculations.
- Experience with Mass Spectrometry & Chromatography (Waters, QDa & ACQUITY Specialist)
