Software Development Engineering, SpecialistJob Title: Senior Cognos Developer
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Cognos Developer with 5 to 7 yrs of strong expertise in IBM Cognos Analytics, including report and dashboard development, system configuration, Cognos Framework and UI administration. The ideal candidate will also have hands-on experience working with DB2 z/OS and Oracle databases to deliver robust business intelligence solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Cognos Development:
- Design, develop, and maintain reports and dashboards using Cognos Report Studio, Workspace, and Analytics.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications and BI solutions.
- Optimize report performance and ensure data accuracy.
Database Integration:
- Connect to and query data from DB2 z/OS and Oracle databases.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction and transformation.
- Ensure seamless data integration across multiple sources.
Cognos Administration:
- Perform Cognos system configuration, including installation, upgrades, and patching.
- Manage user roles, permissions, and security settings.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues.
Cognos UI Administration:
- Customize and manage the Cognos Analytics user interface.
- Configure navigation, themes, and portal pages to enhance user experience.
- Support user onboarding and training on UI features.
Implementation & Support:
- Lead or support BI solution implementations and enhancements.
- Collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders.
- Document technical processes and provide end-user support.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in Cognos report/dashboard development and administration.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with DB2 z/OS and Oracle databases.
- Experience with Cognos Framework Manager and data modeling.
- Familiarity with Cognos Analytics UI customization and administration.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Cognos Analytics (latest versions).
- Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL processes.
- Exposure to other BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
