Senior Technical Consultant - Autonomous System

Job Summary

MathWorks is the world leader in technical computing, system simulation and embedded code generation tools. We are seeking an engineer with a passion for autonomous system to join our Consulting Services team. You will lead our customers in the use of MATLAB/Simulink and associated tools for algorithm development, simulation, implementation and verification in autonomous system. As a consultant, you will leverage your experience in control, perception, mechatronics, image processing, signal processing, and real-time implementation to support customers' autonomous system development. The location for this position is in MathWorks’ office in Tokyo.

Responsibilities

Take on leadership roles in technically challenging project as an expert for our customers:

  • Consulting project management - maintaining task lists, budget tracking, customer interaction, resource estimating, and job size estimating
  • Consulting project execution – Engage in projects, especially related with Robotics
  • Consulting sales - interact with sales staff and customers to sell our services and manage customer expectations
  • Requirements/product issues feedback to product development - interact directly with development staff to resolve difficult customer issues and identify new product features
  • Travel as required by the customer to customer facilities up to 45% of the time

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and 6 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree and 3 years of professional work experience, or a PhD degree, or equivalent experience) is required.

Additional Qualifications

  • Masters or Ph.D in computer science or engineering, mathematics or related field or equivalent
  • 5-7 years of working experience in Mechatronics or autonomous system industry (Robotics, AD/ADAS, Drone, eVTOL, etc...)
  • Programming experience in Python, C++, C language or MATLAB
  • Some of autonomous system related technology knowledge as follows:
    • ROS/ROS2
    • Sensor Fusion
    • LiDAR
    • SLAM
    • Motion estimation
    • Path and motion planning
    • Robotics algorithm (kinematics and inverse kinematics, collision detection)
    • Deep learning, Image processing, YOLO
    • Experience in Embedded system and Implementation (GPU, Jetson)
  • Customer facing engineering experience
  • Strong Japanese skills needed
  • Intermediate or above written and spoken English language skill
