Overview

Microsoft AI’s (“MAI”) Mission is to use AI responsibly to make everyone more informed, capable, and supported. MAI is responsible for Microsoft’s consumer propositions including Copilot, Bing, MSN, Microsoft Advertising, and Edge, as well as developing proprietary foundational AI models. MAI works closely with a variety of teams across Microsoft and across the full AI stack to deliver on Microsoft’s AI ambitions. Within MAI, the Monetization team focuses on both direct (paid directly by a customer) and non-transparent (paid by a third party) models of revenue generation across Microsoft properties.

As a Principal, Microsoft AI Monetization Strategy - you will be an important contributor supporting the broader strategic and operational needs of the team. This role will help structure ambiguous business problems, evaluate the financial impact of different strategies, and craft executive material to inform decisions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Liberal Arts, Computer Science, or related field AND 6+ years marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Business Administration or related field AND 4+ years marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience presenting complex technical concepts into understandable and compelling positions
  • 6+ years of experience working with executive stakeholders
  • 4+ years of experience in strategy, management consulting and/or investment banking

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Liberal Arts, Computer Science, or related field AND 12+ years marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Business Administration or related field AND 8+ years marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Banking related to Digital Advertising and/or AI monetization.

Business Strategy IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $251,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $272,300 per year.

Responsibilities

  • You will lead large strategy projects while also providing guidance to smaller projects.
  • You will communicate and advocate insights to senior business leaders.
  • You will conduct market-based research and analyses and create initial framing for strategic questions with limited input.
  • You will help with valuation analysis using various methods, such as discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis and comparable company analysis (comps).
  • You will synthesize findings into insights across projects and leverage those insights to develop recommendations and ideas around potential growth opportunities.
  • You will convey viewpoints through written documents and influence models through moderate iterations, build end-to-end storylines, and deliver project findings and recommendations to senior executives.
  • You will cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders, keeping your finger on the pulse of change with team strategies and external trends.
  • You will also act as an advisor to senior leadership on a particular area of expertise to inform strategic business decisions.
