Within Security Customer Experience Engineering (CXE), the App Assure team partners with Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) to drive innovation across the Microsoft Security ecosystem. We help partners adopt new product capabilities, influence roadmaps, and scale production through collaboration across Microsoft.

We are seeking a Senior Developer Architect (Ecosystem) to create code samples, templates, developer content, and guidance that scale Microsoft Security’s data lake ISV ecosystem from a few top partners to hundreds of integrations worldwide. You will guide ISVs in building production-grade agents and analytics pipelines on Microsoft Sentinel’s modern data lake, leveraging Spark, KQL, and ML-based models for advanced threat detection and investigation workflows. You’ll also ensure extensibility across Copilot for Security and the broader Cloud Ecosystem Security (CES) portfolio.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years of experience in product/service/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience of written high-quality code that others are using today
  • 2+ years of experience enabling ISVs (Independent Software Vendors), or partners, or customers to build solutions

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Prefered Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of operating system internals, operating system (OS) security mitigations, and understanding of security challenges in Windows, Linux, Mac, Android, and iOS platforms
  • Knowledge of major cloud and productivity platforms as well as identity systems and related security concerns
  • Proven experience developing and deploying production-grade connectors and integrations with Microsoft Security products (such as Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft Defender Extended Detection and Response (XDR)), including expertise in data ingestion, incident synchronization, and event management
  • Proficiency in application programming interface (API) design, extensibility frameworks, and cloud-based architectures, with a track record of building scalable integration solutions that enable seamless interoperability between Microsoft and third-party security platforms
  • Hands-on experience implementing artificial intelligence (AI)-driven automation and orchestration for security workflows, leveraging technologies such as Azure Logic Apps, Power Automate, or similar tools to streamline and enhance security operations across diverse environments
  • Experience with curation of threat intelligence
  • Experience with system administration in large enterprise environments, including Windows and Linux servers and workstations, network administration, and cloud administration
  • Advanced technical degrees or cybersecurity certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 products, such as Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Intune, and Entra ID
  • Experience with reporting, analytics, and dashboarding tools including Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power BI, and Excel
  • Ability to go deep in technical and solution areas with a growth mindset
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders leading highly visible initiatives, products, or projects at scale
  • A strategic mindset and vision to anticipate future demands and evolving needs
  • Ability to partner closely with internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborative team player with demonstrated ability to work on cross-team projects
  • Clear and effective communication skills, effective written and spoken communication for diverse audiences, and the ability to adapt to different levels of seniority
  • Three or more years of recent experience in technical roles in security operations, threat intelligence, and data security and privacy
  • Advanced knowledge of operating system internals and security mechanisms

  • Effective problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically to build solutions that meet customer and partner needs
  • Proven track record of establishing and maintaining cross-team relationships and collaboration
  • One or more years (or equivalent) of recent technical delivery, service delivery, client management, or managed service experience
  • Highly adaptable to change and comfortable pivoting in response to dynamic and fast-paced environments
  • Ability to deliver concise and fact-based communications, both verbal and written, and adapt style and level of information based on audience
  • Ability to evaluate and translate customer needs, requirements, and challenges, and communicate solutions and improvements to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Product Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Code Sample Development for Independent Software Vendor (ISV) Integrations: Write clear, reusable code samples and templates that Independent Software Vendors can use to integrate with Microsoft Security products
  • Microsoft Sentinel Data Lake Developer Enablement: Architect and guide Independent Software Vendors in building third-party agents and analytics pipelines on Microsoft Sentinel’s modern data lake infrastructure, leveraging Apache Spark, Kusto Query Language (KQL), and machine learning (ML)-based models for advanced threat detection and investigation workflows

  • Architecture Design: Help engineering teams design scalable extensibility frameworks by prioritizing modular application programming interfaces (APIs), standardized interfaces, and reusable components over fragmented custom solutions, ensuring long-term adaptability and reduced maintenance overhead
  • Strategic Investment: Serve as an architecture point of contact for Microsoft Security engineering teams and select Independent Software Vendors. Deliver architecture workshops and design sessions. Collaborate with partners across the organization to evaluate trade-offs and prioritize investments aligned with company objectives. Guide roadmap prioritization to achieve success criteria and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs)
  • Customer-Centric Insights: Anticipate customer needs and market opportunities through quantitative and qualitative analyses. Identify patterns across feature portfolios and define impact and prioritization of challenges. Leverage data-driven insights to guide decision-making. Deliver product-specific “Outside/In” sessions through a formal feedback program to provide Product Management teams with external perspectives on feature vision, specifications, and architecture
  • Thought Leadership: Provide thought leadership within the team, addressing challenges and fostering a shared vision. Collaborate effectively to gain alignment and support from leaders and stakeholders. Rally the team around a common product direction
  • End-to-End Vision: Collaborate closely with Feature Product Managers, Business Development, and other customer-focused architects to drive the end-to-end product vision. Advocate priorities and resources across organizational boundaries to ensure successful execution
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including executive leadership and early-adopting Independent Software Vendors and customers, to gather input and support for product vision, strategy, and roadmap. Work with Product Marketing, Business Planning, and Engineering to define product integration release criteria, customer acquisition strategies, and content creation. Lead the transition of Independent Software Vendor feature integrations from private preview to public preview and then to general availability
  • Effective Communication: Communicate product strategy to internal and external audiences using various methods, including conference presentations and collaboration with partner organizations. Build consensus and alignment around the product vision
