Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) Student Technical Assistant position within the College of Business.
As a research lab manager, you will be responsible for coordinating the operations of the College of Business research participant pool and assisting faculty/student researchers under the direction of the College of Business Research Suite/Participant Pool Directors.
The position will begin Winter/Spring 2026 (starting date can be flexible) during which you will learn the position from our current (and outgoing) Research Lab Manager through the end of the Spring 2026 term. Pending performance, the position will be extended through the 2026-27 academic year, during which you would assume full duties of the Research Lab Manager position.
Pay rate for this position is $16.05 per hour.

Position Duties
Sample duties include:
  • Leading the coordination of research assistant scheduling for studies in the COB Research Suite;
  • Maintaining study credit database;
  • Routing participant communications (reminder announcements, answering participant email inquiries, etc.);
  • Managing processing of short student assignments, data coding, etc.;
  • Initiating process improvements;
  • Conducting studies in-person (in the COB Research Suite) or online;
  • Assisting researchers with the creation of study materials;
  • Duties may change depending on the operational needs of researchers;
The average load is expected to be approximately 5-10 hours per week during each term, though hours may vary depending on study volume.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
  • Interest in learning about or pursuing research (e.g., desire to pursue graduate studies, academic publications, etc.);
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills;
  • Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills;
  • The ability to work independently;
  • Proficiency with computer software (e.g., MS Office);
  • The successful candidate must complete CITI and FERPA trainings (after hiring)

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 2 years.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
  • Current status as a freshman, sophomore, junior, or graduate student is preferred;
  • Experience with programming (e.g., Javascript, Qualtrics, etc.) is not necessary, but would be an asset
  • Prior experience conducting behavioral research or managing a research environment would also be an asset (though not required)
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Work schedule will be variable according to the operational needs of researchers in the College of Business.
