Simon Fraser University
Who We Are
Simon Fraser University is a leading research university, advancing an inclusive and sustainable future. Our purpose – the essence of SFU – is to create and connect knowledge, learning and community for deeper understanding and meaningful impact. We are committed to fostering excellence, innovation, belonging and community in all that we do.
At WearTech Labs, our mission is to make a meaningful impact on the world through wearable technology—for instance, by improving the health of babies born in the developing world through vital sign alerts, increasing business productivity through the redesign of workplaces based on usage, and locating downed firefighters in complex indoor settings. Meeting this goal requires developing new hardware technologies, sensing modalities, and algorithms to quantify our lives, new analytic tools to make sense of this wealth of data, and new control strategies to help change how we live our lives, all perpetually powered by our own physiology.
About the Role
The Software Lead / Project Manager at SFU's WearTech Labs drives innovative software development for human performance research and the development of wearable technologies and smart systems. The role is pivotal in designing and developing robust data systems, managing multidisciplinary teams, and delivering software solutions for academic and industry applications. The role supports WearTech Labs' mission of driving innovation in technologies that enhance human health and performance.
The ideal candidate should have a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Kinesiology, or a related discipline, supplemented by at least three years of experience in software development and technical project management.
