See open jobs at University of Pittsburgh.See open jobs similar to "Laboratory Research Technician II" AnitaB.org.Dr. Michael Oertel is looking for a Laboratory Research Technician to work in his laboratory within the Organ Pathobiology and Therapeutics Institute.Dr. Oertel's lab is focusing on the specific characteristics of the injured microenvironment that augment tissue replacement by transplanted cells, as well as understanding the mechanism through which growth-advantaged (more fit) cells are out-competing growth-disadvantaged (less fit) cells. Incumbent will be expected to perform a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures, prepares specimens, and oversee supply management. Incumbent will be responsible for operating and properly maintaining laboratory equipment. Incumbent will be required to keep detailed, accurate, and timely data and log books, organize, and document results. Routine problem solving is required, generally guided by policies, procedures and business plans.
Ideal candidate will have a minimum education level of a bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience. Combination of education and experience can be substituted if relevant.
Job Summary
Performs a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures. Prepares specimens. Oversees supply management. Operates and properly maintains equipment.
Performs a variety of laboratory experiments such as histology, flow cytometry, molecular techniques, gene sequencing, and related technical functions, testing, troubleshooting, and analysis, and may perform microsurgical procedures. Ensures conformity to specifications.
• Identifies and prepares specimens.
• Oversees supply management: ordering, procurement, tracking estimates, and receiving items.
• Operates and maintains applicable laboratory equipment for job functions.
• Keeps detailed, accurate, and timely data and log books. Organizes and documents results.
• Maintains, calibrates, cleans, and tests sterility of laboratory equipment.
