Laboratory Research Technician

The Becker lab at the University of Pittsburgh is interested in hiring a Laboratory Research Technician. The lab studies molecular mechanisms regulating cardiomyopathy, heart failure, and sudden death. The candidate will perform research work in a highly collaborative environment and will have the opportunity to assist with manuscript preparation. The candidate will work with mouse models and perform cell culture experiments. Molecular biology and/or biochemistry experience preferred. There are opportunities for independent research projects for interested candidates.
Job Duties:
1. assisting with mouse colony maintenance
2. murine cardiovascular phenotyping
3. tissue immunohistochemistry
4. protein biochemistry including immunoblotting
5. molecular biology assays including PCR
Job Summary
Performs laboratory testing and some analysis on multiple types of specimen samples. Operates and properly sterilizes equipment and maintains inventory and assists with ordering.
Familiarity in a lab setting. Undergrad work in a lab is helpful.
Ability to move between university offices, labs and buildings. May require long periods of standing, bending. kneeling. Must be ablet to move lab equipment or supplies.
