The Laboratory Research Technician in Dr. Byrd's Lab will support preclinical research focused on the discovery and development of novel therapeutic agents for leukemia. This role involves conducting in vitro and in vivo experiments, maintaining laboratory equipment, analyzing data, and collaborating with scientists to advance drug candidates toward clinical application. The technician will play a key role in ensuring experimental accuracy, reproducibility, and compliance with laboratory protocols.
Job Summary
Performs a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures. Prepares specimens. Oversees supply management. Operates and properly maintains equipment.
- Perform cell culture experiments using leukemia cell lines and primary patient samples
- Assist in drug screening assays and evaluation of therapeutic efficacy
- Conduct molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, Western blotting, flow cytometry)
- Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records and databases
- Prepare reagents, media, and laboratory materials
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment
- Assist in animal studies (if applicable), including handling and dosing
- Analyze and interpret experimental data; assist in preparing reports and presentations
- Ensure compliance with biosafety and regulatory standards
Moderate physical effort required. May be required to stand/move for several hours at a time. May be required to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance of equipment.
