About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Java Engineer to lead the advancement of FX Derivatives and Risk technology. In this role, you will apply expert knowledge of modern software engineering to help reengineer and modernize the platform. You’ll collaborate closely with the department’s leadership team to shape the future of the system, driving innovation and delivering scalable, high-performance solutions. The role requires you to be a hands-on engineer and work collaboratively with Product, business, and IT teams across multiple product areas. This role also requires forward-thinking capabilities in AI and agentic AI systems.


In this role, you will:

  • Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
  • Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions
  • Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization
  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership


Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 6+ years of experience on software architectures including traditional n-tier and containerized Kubernetes microservices
  • 5+ years of experience with Software API Test Automation tech stack including REST Assured, Karate and familiarity of concepts such as contract testing and service virtualization
  • 5+ years of application development using Java, spring, MQ/Solace, SQL and NoSQL databases
  • 5+ years of experience designing high performance, distributed computing systems using Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, or similar
  • 2+ years of experience in CI/CD pipeline that deploys to a managed Kubernetes public cloud environment
  • 2+ years of experience creating GitHub Actions and GitHub Workflows


Desired Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in computer science, applied statistics, quantitative economics, operations research or a relate
  • Experience leading projects that require integration of multiple technology systems to deliver new functionality and user experience
  • 5+ years with JavaScript development (REACT or Angular)
  • 5+ years of experience in capital markets, specifically in risk disciplines such as Market and Counterparty Credit Risk
  • 3+ years of experience in high performance computing
  • 3+ years of experience in Cloud Computing (Azure, GCP and/or AWS)
  • Knowledge and understanding of derivative products, risk management, and data modeling of financial products
  • Knowledge and understanding of data management for reporting and quantitative analytics

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

$144,400.00 - $300,000.00
