• Visionary Leadership: Lead and inspire a diverse team of engineers and scientists, fostering a culture of innovation, customer centricity, collaboration, and excellence.
• Product Innovation: Drive the ideation, conceptualization, and development of cutting-edge new products leveraging market insights that will reshape the industry landscape supporting the Electronics verticals.
• Change/Risk Management: Proactively work with MFG team and the product engineering team to execute complex change management projects (CMPs) that are vital to support the business.
• Strategic Planning: Develop a comprehensive R&D strategy that identifies and capitalizes on emerging market trends, customer insights, ensuring alignment with the business’ overall growth objectives.
• Technical Excellence: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the R&D team, fostering professional growth and development.
• Customer-Centric Approach: Infuse customer insights and feedback into the product development process, creating products that not only meet market needs but exceed customer expectations.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders across the business, including Marketing, Sales, and Operations, to ensure seamless product integration, launch, and commercial success.
• Building Transformational New Product Platforms: Build deep collaborations with our partner research organizations (i.e. CRL, 3M Ventures, external universities) to facilitate building and transferring new technology platforms to enable future growth.
• Intellectual Property: Drive the creation and protection of intellectual property through patent applications and strategic partnerships.
• Strategic Partnerships: Forge and nurture strategic collaborations with industry leaders, research institutions, and technology partners to amplify our capabilities and accelerate product development timelines.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
• Master's degree or higher in science-related field (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
• Five (5) years of Research and Development experience in Electronics, Adhesives or Tapes in a private or public environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
• PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Chemistry from an accredited institution
• Three (3) years of supervisory experience in a private or public
• Skills include strong communication, project championing/sponsorship, and cross-functional collaboration
