Job Description
Purpose
The Senior Financial Analyst within the Finance Shared Services (FSS) team in Puerto Rico is responsible for the timeliness and accuracy of the accounting for AbbVie’s fringes and treasury related transactions following the US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and AbbVie’s policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Work on the general accounting financial close process by working closely with the sites Finance teams to ensure compliance with corporate’s deadlines, FSS processes, internal controls, and US GAAP.
- Prepare account reconciliations for various Balance Sheet accounts, manage “ad hoc requests”, and prepare manual journal entries related to general accounting.
- Propose accounting treatment in line with corporate’ policies for less complex transactions on treasury and fringes accounting and liaise with the Finance team members and assist in escalating/resolving/analyzing treasury related and fringes matters, as needed.
- Review the Trial Balances and analyze variances month over month on fringes accounts. Work in partnership with the Controllers and Finance Managers to ensure integrity of the ledgers and full compliance with accounting policies.
- Serve as the treasury analyst for the PR Mfg. sites by monitoring and reconciling the cash accounts, liaising with the BPO (external party)/Treasury teams to solve any bank open items, apply collections, complete checks stop payments, complete credit card applications, unclaimed fund monitoring, complete the required Hedge Trade requests, transfers of branch earnings, among others.
- Prepare the annual budget for certain employee fringes, including the updates and Long-Range Plan (LRP), including discussing and presenting these to management and providing monthly commentaries for variances between plan and actuals.
- Identity, propose and implement initiatives aimed to improve efficiency, automate processes, and eliminate non-value-added activities in the financial activities.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
- Fully bilingual (Spanish and English) is required.
- Proficiency in Excel and SAP experience is required.
- A minimum of 6 years of related accounting experience and solid technical accounting knowledge are required.
- Strong customer service and strong communication, organization and analytical skills are required.
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders, due dates, and priorities as well as ability to work independently are needed.

Finance teams, Treasury, Tax COE, and auditors (internal and external).
