Job Description

Purpose

The Senior Tax Analyst will play a key role within the Corporate Tax Department and will be a part of the International Tax team. The Senior Tax Analyst will be primarily responsible for supporting the income tax provision and reporting process as it relates to AbbVie’s international operations. The Senior Tax Analyst will collaborate with other team members, to assist with providing guidance on income tax matters and will participate in various projects and strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of the US GAAP quarterly and annual tax provision calculations and supporting schedules as it relates to AbbVie’s international operations, such as GILTI Inclusion, Subpart F, E&P, Foreign Tax Credit, OECD Pillar 2, and other relevant computations, along with analyzing tax accounts and reserves, assisting with SOX internal controls compliance and supporting external audit requests.
  • Assists in the review of the foreign income tax accounting packages to ensure that the income tax account balances of foreign subsidiaries are accurately stated and properly classified.
  • Researches complex tax issues and provide interpretation and application of the law, regulations, and cases to specific transactions and factual situations.
  • Monitors, analyzes and communicates changes in U.S. and foreign tax legislation, including quantifying and modeling the impact of tax planning strategies and legislative and regulatory developments.
  • Collaborates with members of the Corporate Tax team and cross-functionally and demonstrate effective communication and teamwork skills through identification and escalation of issues appropriately and sharing results with team members and leadership.
  • Assists with tax process improvement initiatives, including identifying and implementing opportunities for process and technology improvements that will drive value within tax organization.

Qualifications

  • B.A./B.S. in Accounting/Finance required.
  • 3+ Years related experience beyond the degree or Masters plus related experience.
  • Preferred:
    Public Accounting or Fortune 500 Corporate Tax experience preferred
    CPA and/or MST a plus, but not required

Required Skills

  • Strong computer skills:
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Knowledge of tax provision software a plus (e.g., OneSource, Longview)
    • Knowledge of HFM and SAP a plus
  • Broad knowledge of US and global international tax concepts as applicable to a multinational corporate environment (GILTI, Subpart F, FDII, FTC, OECD Pillar 2, etc.).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to successfully interact with management and operating personnel within the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify and communicate potential tax planning opportunities or exposures to management.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; manage multiple concurrent tasks and changing priorities; and work effectively in a team environment.

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.​ Salary: ​$94,000 - $178,500
