The Opportunity
From the moment you wake up until the moment you go to sleep, your digital interactions — the websites you browse, the content you consume, the ads you see, and the products you purchase — are influenced by Adobe technologies. Adobe powers the digital experiences of the world’s biggest brands.
We're looking for Senior Backend Engineers to join multiple teams across Adobe Experience Platform and Adobe Analytics, including the Observability, Stitching, and Experience Edge teams. Our mission is to build scalable, performant, and secure cloud-native platforms that support billions of requests and power intelligent customer experiences.
These roles are ideal for seasoned engineers who want to work on distributed systems at scale, own critical cloud infrastructure, and contribute to robust data platforms handling massive workloads in a multi-cloud environment.
What You’ll Do
Design and build robust backend services and features for high scale microservices SaaS products running in AWS, Azure, and GCP.
Create and maintain large-scale observability systems to collect, process, and expose critical metrics and logs for Adobe’s cloud infrastructure.
Architect and implement scalable data pipelines and distributed systems using JVM-based languages like Java and Scala, and frameworks such as Spark.
Build resilient, high-performance APIs and services that serve real-time customer traffic on a global scale.
Drive design discussions and own significant parts of the platform from conception through production deployment.
Develop with a strong product-first approach, while prioritizing quality, reliability, security, and performance.
Collaborate multi-functionally with architects, product managers, data engineers, and site reliability engineers.
Contribute to infrastructure-as-code efforts using tools like Terraform and manage CI/CD pipelines and container orchestration via Kubernetes.
Monitor services with advanced observability tooling like Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, New Relic, and Datadog.
What you need to succeed
Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or equivalent) and 5 – 10+ years of backend software engineering experience.
Strong knowledge of JVM languages (Java, Scala, or Kotlin) and deep experience in crafting and operating SaaS/cloud-native services.
Proven experience with distributed systems, large-scale data processing (Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, Iceberg), and real-time stream or batch data architecture.
Solid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure; GCP a plus)
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (deployment, scaling, troubleshooting).
Knowledge of stream processing tools: Kafka, Kafka Streams, Apache Flink, AWS Kinesis.
Experience building RESTful APIs and scalable backend services.
Practical understanding of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and DevOps tooling (e.g., Jenkins, Argo, GitHub Actions).
Familiarity with agile/scrum methodologies and collaborative, iterative development practices.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
At Adobe, you will be immersed in an exceptional work environment that is recognized throughout the world on Best Companies lists. You will also be surrounded by colleagues who are committed to helping each other grow through our unique Check-In approach where ongoing feedback flows freely.
