Individual ContributorWe are looking for a Software Development Engineer 4 with strong leadership skills and deep technical expertise to join our high-impact engineering team.
You will play a key role in designing, developing, and deploying large-scale distributed systems and data pipelines that power critical business and AI-driven applications. Our team is focused on building the next generation of Agentic AI solutions, blending intelligent agents with robust data infrastructure and modern cloud technologies.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience in backend development using Java, Scala, or Python, a solid understanding of cloud ecosystems (AWS or Azure), and a strong foundation in scalable software architecture. Experience with Agentic AI systems or modern AI/ML pipelines is a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end technical delivery of complex software systems — from architecture and design to development, deployment, and support
- Design and implement robust, scalable APIs and backend services for data-intensive applications
- Build and optimize large-scale distributed data pipelines for real-time and batch processing
- Collaborate across engineering, product, data science, and DevOps teams to define solutions and drive alignment
- Apply best practices in software engineering, testing, monitoring, and performance optimization
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, and contribute to building a high-performance engineering culture
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and evaluate their potential impact
Basic Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with strong design and coding skills
- Proven experience with Java and/or Scala, and Python
- Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), including managed services and infrastructure-as-code
- Strong experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices
- Hands-on experience with distributed systems, data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Kafka, Flink, Airflow)
- Ability to work independently, make architectural decisions, and influence engineering roadmaps
- Experience leading technical projects and coordinating across multiple teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with agentic AI systems, AI/ML pipeline integration, or intelligent agents
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with modern observability stacks and CI/CD tooling
- Comfortable working in an Agile/Scrum environment with strong collaboration practices

At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).
In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
