DESCRIPTION

AWS is seeking a Senior Research Manager to join our team at AWS Customer Experience and lead our AI/ML technology research efforts. Reporting to the Director of Research and Analytics, your team will collaborate with other research, product, engineering and design leaders and teams to enhance our development of advanced technologies, advancing state-of-the-art and providing practical solutions to real-world problems.

As a leader you'll be responsible for identifying and prioritizing key problems, shaping goals, developing solutions, performance metrics, and innovating on methodologies and tools. Your expertise will help shape AWS AI/ML strategy and innovation.

The ideal candidate will have experience and deep understanding of AI technologies that deliver meaningful value to customers with the ability to communicate the voice of the customer effectively to stakeholders.

Key job responsibilities
* Manage and develop a research team facilitating collaboration and promoting a culture of innovation.
* Guide key product decisions using insights generated through data and research; set research goals and KPIs and identify the right levers to achieve those goals.
* Develop and execute on high-impact projects that utilize and integrate AI technologies to improve the AWS experience for our customers
* Collaborate and build relationships with key service partners and customers to understand the needs and expectations of AI solutions
* Help the team prioritize and execute in the face of scale and ambiguity, distilling problems and identifying trade-offs
* Upskill the team in AI techniques, tools and methodologies
* Explore and integrate insights from related fields into AI research to enhance understanding of human-computer interactions

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

* A degree in a relevant field
* Experience in a mixed methods research
* AI research experience
* Experience managing teams
* Demonstrated success in collaborating with other professional disciplines
* Evidenced experience of building and maintaining professional relationships with stakeholders and collaborators

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* An advanced degree in a relevant field
* Experience managing interdisciplinary research projects
* Significant experience in a research role with experience in AI research
* Track record of guiding teams through unstructured problems to deliver business impact
* Critical thinking skills with the ability to approach challenges creatively and systematically

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $179,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $296,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
