DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an innovative Software Engineer to join our Event Orchestration team at Amazon. As part of the team that powers Amazon's global shopping events including Prime Day and Black Friday, you will help build and maintain the critical infrastructure that orchestrates retail events across Amazon's worldwide marketplaces.

What You'll Do:
- Design and develop scalable event orchestration systems that coordinate multiple services and teams across Amazon
- Create and optimize workflows for event planning, execution, and monitoring
- Collaborate with business teams to translate event requirements into technical solutions
- Develop APIs and services that enable seamless integration between various event management tools
Technical Skills:
- Programming Languages: Java, Python
- Technologies: Microservices, REST APIs

Key job responsibilities
- Designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems and services using: Object-oriented design; and Java.
- Create solutions to run predictions on distributed systems with exposure to innovative technologies at incredible scale and speed.
- Build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage/use.
- Design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems.
- Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software.
- Produce comprehensive, usable software documentation.
- Translate functional requirements into robust, efficient, supportable solutions that work well within the overall system architecture.
- Participate in the full development cycle, end-to-end, from design, implementation, and testing to documentation, delivery and maintenance.
- Onboard and mentor junior development engineers.

About the team
The Events Tech team at Amazon hosts Deals based events (e.g., Prime Day), Seasonal Events (e.g., Back to School) and Cultural & Community occasions (e.g., Black History Month). This team builds and powers high-volume, automated technical solutions that scale for high traffic. We are looking to build events that allow customers to engage with a diverse set of Amazon offerings.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Bachelors Degree

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
