DESCRIPTION

Lead the evolution of Amazon's Healthcare Security infrastructure by joining our Healthcare Security team. Our team is currently hiring for a Software Development Manager to spearhead the development of security solutions that safeguard sensitive healthcare data across Amazon's Health Services.

This critical role requires deep technical expertise in developing highly reliable and scalable software, as well as a proven track record of growing and developing engineering talent. You will be at the forefront of creating innovative solutions that ensure the security, compliance, and efficient management of our cloud resources.

The ideal candidate will bring a unique blend of technical prowess and leadership acumen. You should have a deep understanding of cloud technologies, security principles, and software development best practices. Key job responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of software engineers developing data governance and security solutions
- Drive technical strategy and architecture decisions for the team's projects
- Ensure delivery of high-quality, scalable, and reliable software solutions
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to understand requirements and align priorities
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth
- Participate in hiring and team-building activities to maintain a strong engineering team

A day in the life
As the manager of the team you own vision and mission of the team. You will attend daily operations calls, team standups, and meet with stakeholders regarding short-term/long-term projects. You will weekly meet with your team to discuss their career goals, and passions. You will lead operational excellence initiatives. You will partner with your SDEs to create architectures that will scale for the long term. You will provide guidance to senior leaders on long-term technical strategies and approaches to solving problems within your domain.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
