In this role you will be responsible for solving complex and ambiguous data and metric problems. You will use latest AWS provided Data Analytics and GenAI tools (such as Quicksight, Amazon Q, Sagemaker) to provide business metrics for senior leaders. You should have a track record of end-to-end ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment. You should be able to work on complex initiatives, deal with ambiguity. You will be required to work with senior leaders, product managers, marketing, finance, operations, program managers and other data teams to build datasets that can be used for generating insights.
Key job responsibilities
As a business intelligence engineer, you will/may:
- Own the design, development, and maintenance of scalable solutions for ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to support analytical and business needs.
- Work with team leadership to understand the customer needs and concerns as well as define solutions.
- Translate basic business problem statements into analysis requirements. Work with internal customers to define best output based on expressed stakeholder needs.
- Use analytical and statistical rigor to solve complex problems and drive business decisions.
- Develop queries and visualizations for ad-hoc requests and projects, as well as ongoing reporting.
- Design and drive experiments, A/B testing, outlier deep dives and form actionable recommendations. Manage the implementation of those recommendations.
- Write queries and output efficiently, and have in-depth knowledge of the data available in area of expertise. Pull the data needed with standard query syntax; periodically identify more advanced methods of query optimization. Convert data to make it analysis-ready.
- Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
- Monitor and troubleshoot operational or data issues in the data pipelines
- Review and audit existing ETL jobs and SQL queries.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
- Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
- Bachelor's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
- Experience working as a BIE in a technology company
- Experience writing complex SQL queries
- Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
