DESCRIPTION

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

The Product Manager - Technical will lead the development and delivery of Customer Terminal (CT) cloud APIs and device management systems that enable seamless integration, control, and updating of Kuiper satellite terminals. This role is critical in creating robust, secure, and scalable cloud-based interfaces that allow programmatic management of terminal devices while ensuring seamless integration with AWS services and other Kuiper systems.

This PM-T will be the single threaded owner (STO) for CT cloud API architecture and device management capabilities, responsible for designing and implementing AWS SDK-compatible APIs that enable sophisticated terminal control and management functions. They will drive the development of cloud-native solutions that support terminal lifecycle management, software updates, and system integration while maintaining security and reliability. The role requires extensive collaboration with CT Software teams, DS2 Software Update Framework, and various customer-facing application teams to ensure cohesive system integration.

Key job responsibilities
The successful candidate will drive technical strategy and implementation of cloud APIs while ensuring robust device management capabilities across the Kuiper network.

Own the development of product vision and feature requirements documents that articulate the technical value proposition and business benefits of CT cloud APIs and device management features.
Design and specify AWS SDK-compatible APIs, including comprehensive documentation of operational flows, integration patterns, and success metrics through detailed user stories and acceptance criteria.
Develop thorough technical documentation covering implementation alternatives, regulatory requirements, dependencies, and architectural assumptions for each API feature.
Lead the API feature roadmap development process by gathering requirements from customers, regional teams, business development teams, and solutions architects.
Own the planning and execution of API feature rollouts and device management capabilities, ensuring backward compatibility and minimal service disruption.
Drive cross-functional alignment with adjacent product teams to ensure seamless integration between CT cloud APIs and related systems (CT Software, DS2 Software Update Framework, and other Kuiper systems).
Manage comprehensive security reviews, legal compliance assessments, and privacy screenings for all API implementations and device management features.
Support engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle while ensuring adherence to AWS best practices and cloud design patterns.
Create and maintain detailed technical API documentation that enables efficient developer integration and implementation.
Develop clear, compelling messaging materials that effectively communicate API capabilities and device management features to customers and distributors.
Lead technical discussions with customers through various channels to explain API functionalities, integration patterns, and feature roadmap plans.
Demonstrate strong technical acumen in assessing development costs, timelines, and architectural trade-offs while maintaining focus on API usability and reliability.
