DESCRIPTION
The AWS Usage Forecast Planning Organization owns software and science models to forecast, plan, and order the amount of hardware (both core EC2 instances and GPU/accelerator instances) needed to keep EC2 running as the world's favorite elastic cloud. Our work ensures that AWS customers never run out of cloud computing capacity! These systems balance customer availability and cost/utilization at various time horizons (a few hours out to a few years out) and drive multi-billion dollar capex investments in AWS regions, AZ's, data centers and compute infrastructure.
We are looking for an experienced development leader to lead a team of software development engineers. You will work closely with product management , science and other business partners to define strategy and visions, clarify requirements, and lead development teams from concept through delivery and subsequent operation. You will have regular communication with senior management on status, risks and product strategy, requiring strong written communications. You will be a thought leader, but you don't just know how to solve the problem, you prove it by leading team to build the solution. Last but not the least; you will have a high bar for code quality and passion for design and architecture.

Key job responsibilities
* Lead a team of 8+ engineers in the development of new and operation of existing demand planning systems
* Partner with Product Manager in roadmap planning cycles.
* Responsible for the entire software development lifecycle.
* Insist on high operational excellence while delivering results
* Develop individual contributor engineers' careers through growth conversations, performance coaching, and creating the right opportunities.
