The Deals & Promotions team is at the center of Amazon's retail business, and we are on a mission to create a world-class deals experience for our customers. We are building the future where AI and automation help us discover, curate, and present the best offers, and we are looking for a hands-on leader to help us get there.
As a Software Development Manager, you will lead a dedicated "two-pizza team" of 8-12 talented Software Development Engineers (SDEs). Your team will have end-to-end ownership of critical components of the Amazon Deals experience, from the customer-facing features to the backend services and automation that bring them to life. You will be responsible for the delivery, operational excellence, and technical direction of your team. In partnership with product managers and designers, you will define and deliver on a roadmap that directly impacts our customers and internal business users. We are looking for a deeply technical, customer-obsessed leader who is passionate about building scalable systems and growing a high-performing engineering team.

- Hire, coach, and mentor a team of high-performing software engineers, supporting their career growth and development.
- Manage the end-to-end software development lifecycle, including project planning, execution, and the successful, on-time delivery of your team's roadmap.
- Own the operational excellence of your team's services, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and performant for millions of customers.
- Drive the technical direction for your team, influencing software architecture and design choices to build for the long term.
- Partner closely with stakeholders, including product managers, designers, and other engineering teams, to build a cohesive and innovative customer experience.
- Dive deep into technical details while providing high-level leadership and vision for your team.
- Champion the application of new technologies, including exploring how AI Agents and Generative AI can be integrated into your services to automate promotional workflows.
