We are seeking an energetic Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Engineer to join the team and serve as a technical resource and leader within Amazon data centers. The position will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations. The DCEO Engineer is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment within the data center. The DCEO Engineer is crucial in maintaining high reliability and performance while also prioritizing safety. They will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot mission-critical data center facility equipment to achieve near 100% uptime. Infrastructure under their management includes standby diesel generators and related fuel systems, electrical systems such as switchgear, UPS units, PDUs, batteries and associated systems. Mechanical equipment includes CRAC/CRAH units and cooling systems. The role is also responsible for other building systems such as fire suppression systems, building automation systems, and general facilities equipment.
Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Team, which is the backbone of AWS Infrastructure Operations organization supporting the rapid growth of our business and customers 24x7. We commit to maintain the critical facility infrastructure of AWS and ensure the highest standards of operational performance in the aspects of safety, security, availability, productivity, capacity and efficiency.
Key job responsibilities
• Oversee the performance of the data center's critical physical infrastructure. Ensure that all work performed is completed to the highest quality and without impact to customers.
• Leading a team of 24x7 engineering technicians with an emphasis on career growth.
• Drive a safety centric culture and ensure a safe workplace for builders and visitors to our sites.
• Generate change management requests & incident management tickets for Data Center facility;
• Coordinate daily with third-party vendors ensuring adherence to contracted SLAs.
• Take charge of the installation of the racks and conduct the rack space, power/cooling assessment;
• Driving improvement projects to enhance the data center safety, security and availability, often requiring reaching out to a variety of support teams, and drive them from conception to completion.
• Effectively and efficiently manage the operations budget and expenditures.
• Engage in non-office on-call responsibilities for designated data centers in the region. This will include responding to any issues within the data centers and managing the investigation, mitigation, and recovery of the issue(s).
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date Data Center infrastructure inventory through related matrices and internal dashboards
• Lead new build and expansion projects to improve the operations efficiency, including the design, implementation, and commissioning phases;
• Assist in internal recruitment including conducting interviews and assisting with onboarding.
