Amazon's Sub-Same Day (SSD) Delivery team is seeking an experienced Senior Operations Engineer to lead the development and implementation of complex technical solutions that enable faster-than-same-day delivery across North America. As part of one of Amazon's most dynamic and rapidly evolving delivery channels, you will work at the intersection of operations engineering, system design, and technology innovation to define the future of last-mile logistics infrastructure.
In this role, you will manage complex solutions and own strategic initiatives that drive operational excellence through tech and science-led improvements. You will lead the development of data-driven solutions, optimize process designs, and implement enhancements that reduce delivery defects while improving speed and customer experience. The role requires strong analytical capabilities, technical acumen, and the ability to translate operational data into actionable process improvement solutions.
As a Senior Operations Engineer, you will manage concurrent projects spanning operational flow design, and system optimization. You will develop scalable technical processes and drive programs from conception through implementation, working closely with cross-functional teams including Operations, Technology, and Product Management. Your solutions will directly impact the customer experience by enabling faster, more reliable delivery services.
Success in this role requires a combination of strategic thinking, strong stakeholder management and analytical capability. You will need to work autonomously, develop scalable mechanisms, and create long-term solutions while coordinating effectively with senior management. This role requires up to 10% travel annually.
Key job responsibilities
* Manage the lifecycle of complex solutions while maintaining schedule adherence
* Deliver concurrent projects and building/system designs for SSD operations
* Derive business requirements pertaining to design and partner with key stakeholders to develop integrated solutions within delivery and pick-up space to address key customer pain points
* Coordinate closely with internal and external stakeholders worldwide to proactively identify, optimize, track and report performance
* Develop and utilize data inputs and own key metrics aimed to inform operational adjustments
* Define and create scalable processes to meet growing business demands
* Partner with Directors, Senior Managers, and other key operational and technical leaders across the organization
