The Data Center Builder Tools team is looking for an innovative, self-directed System Development Engineer to drive the development and scaling of the test automation platforms used by software teams building AWS Data Center industrial controls solutions. As a System Development Engineer II (SysDE2) on this team, you will work with hardware and software hands-on in our lab designing new software solutions that power AWS Data Center industrial controls platform and management software products. You will be empowering teams across the Data Center Community to deliver enterprise grade scalable software solutions.

Key job responsibilities
The System Development Engineer II (SDE2) role is a key position within Amazon's engineering teams. As an SysDE II, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex software and lab hardware systems that power Amazon's products and services.
Your primary duties will include:
- Architecting and implementing robust, scalable, and efficient software components embedded in equipment and in the cloud
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to deliver high-quality software.
- Continuously improving coding practices, testing methodologies, and development processes.
- Staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Mentoring and providing guidance to more junior engineers.
- Participating in the overall direction and vision of the engineering team and organization.
The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong background in systems development, with expertise in areas such as system design, software engineering principles, and basic hardware troubleshooting. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment are also essential.

About the team
The Data Center Builder Tools team develops tooling for device frameworks, and device lifecycle management in AWS Data Centers. This includes both frontend and backend services use by internal development teams and on-site customers. Our tools power the industrial controls systems deployed in our data centers.
