Amazon Japan is looking for an experience Product Manager to lead our Selection science and strategy for Kindle and overall Books Retail.

In this role, the single threaded leader will own driving the Selection strategy for digital and physical books in one of Amazon’s most strategic customer-acquisition workstreams. This is a high visibility role, leading a small team and influencing product and category management teams, and affecting design decisions in supply chain and across growth plans.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned product manager with significant experience influencing tech and non-tech leaders with their roadmaps. We are looking for a resourceful leader who is exceptional at prioritizing the biggest issues, and an astute communicator skilled in framing complex issues simply.

You will have a history of delivering results and developing scalable solutions that serve hundreds of customers, with the right balance of thinking strategically and maintaining a keen attention to detail. You use data to guide decision-making, have strong business judgement, and can solve complicated problems with simple, elegant solutions.


Key job responsibilities

- Building and driving the Selection strategy roadmap across Books, including product development and major program goals
- Pioneer the development of Books Selection Science in Japan in partnership with WW Selection Science teams.
- Leading and developing a program team based in Japan, and influencing partner teams in JP and WW.
- Defining and building the Selection reporting mechanisms; driving automation and productivity gains through AI.
- Set and develop benchmarking and research capabilities for monitoring Selection opportunities and emerging trends.
- Report on regular cadence to senior leadership. Including driving key strategic decisions on new business model launches from a Selection CX and VX view point.

Amazon Japan Books Selection team leads the Selection strategy across Digital and Print. Our work informs and shapes the design of our supply chain network speed, buying, inventory holding, and the constant expansion of reading Selection across multiple reading experiences. We lead the development of strategy through science, and develop scalable automations that accelerate the Amazon Books flywheel in Japan and Worldwide.
