DESCRIPTION

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

The AWS Facility Operations Center (FOC) team is seeking a Business Automation Engineer (BAE) to act as a strategic link between FOC business operations and technology teams by analyzing operational workflows through lean practices, orchestrating automation solutions, deploying artificial intelligence to solve business challenges, and driving process improvements. The role requires a results-oriented, data-driven mindset, coding/scripting skills, and familiarity with AI tools to support cross-functional collaboration within the Facility Operations Center environment.

Key job responsibilities
• Analyze operational workflows using lean methodologies to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
• Develop and maintain process documentation (as-is and to-be states).
• Support digital transformation and operational excellence programs.
• Work backwards from business needs to build features and systems that directly impact our customers and improve efficiency.
• Write scripts to automate repetitive tasks (e.g., TamperMonkey, Python, VBA, Java)
• Collaborate with partner teams or use APIs for more advanced process automation
• Identify and apply use cases with AI tools and agents in operations
• Leverage existing scalable tech platforms and solutions to onboard FOC use cases
• Take full ownership of projects and deliverables with minimal supervision
• Champion the agile software development lifecycle including design reviews, code reviews, and operational support, while adhering to engineering best practices for the entire FOC organization’s queue of business automation solutions.
• Communicate insights and progress clearly with different levels of stakeholders and leadership in various formats both written and verbal
• Act as liaison to external tech teams for collaboration and integration
• Collaborate with analytics, operational, and technical program management teams to evaluate, test, and implement improvement solutions
