AWS is growing rapidly and we are hiring a Field Engineering Intern to support technical projects within Amazon data centers. You will be part of a highly creative, efficient team tasked with tackling the most fascinating and challenges in designing, building, and operating Amazon data facilities.
As an intern you will work with leading-edge technologies and equipment and learn how hyper-scale data centers are able to operate efficiently and with minimal downtime. You will work with tenured Field Engineers (FEs), allowing you to learn and experience the day-to-day activities in a fast-paced and high-tech industry. You will support with deep dives into operational events and may also be given your own projects to run, exposing you to internal systems and operational processes.
Key job responsibilities
• Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures.
• Directly support operational issues with ad-hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, including critical equipment, and event support.
• Own the conceptual design for existing data center upgrades and design-solutions, which add capacity, improve availability, and increase efficiency.
• Interface with internal data center design engineering team, server hardware team, environmental health and safety team to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered.
• Work on concurrent projects.
• Support new construction projects during design, build, commissioning, and handover.
About the team
The Field Engineering (FE) Team provides electrical and mechanical subject matter expertise to support Data Center Engineering Operations and other partner teams. The areas of support are spread across four core areas – Availability, Customer Support, Capacity Delivery, and Data Center (Optimization and Audit) Improvements.
The FE team provides full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance. They are the ‘go to’ engineering resource for each region when technical advice is needed, and use our experience and knowledge to engage with diverse teams across AWS.
