Backbone Technical Business Developer, APAC, Backbone
Amazon
Description
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
Amazon provides a highly reliable, scalable, low-cost infrastructure platform in the cloud that powers hundreds of thousands of businesses across 190 countries worldwide. Our cloud infrastructure is built around Regions and Availability Zones (AZs), with each Region providing multiple, physically separated and isolated Availability Zones connected through low-latency, high-throughput, and highly redundant networking. This architecture enables customers to design and operate applications and databases that are more highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable than traditional single or multi-datacenter infrastructures.
We are seeking a highly motivated, commercially and technically savvy Backbone Network Business Developer to join our Asia Pacific (APAC) team within the Global Connectivity Infrastructure Development (GCID) organization. In this role, you will develop innovative solutions to scale and expand one of the world's largest and most complex networks while delivering operational excellence to our stakeholders. The team is responsible for planning, developing, and acquiring the network infrastructure that drives Amazon's internal operations and connects Amazon to the rest of the world.
As a subject matter expert in the telecommunications marketplace, you will bring extensive experience with vendors, physical network infrastructure, optical technologies, and backbone network engineering. You will actively drive commercial and technical vendor network strategy within the Asia Pacific region, working closely with suppliers, technology partners, and service teams to meet customer demands. Your responsibilities will include identifying suppliers and developing technical and commercial solutions for wavelengths, dark fiber, and submarine cable capacity.
You will develop strategic backbone network plans and provide regular progress updates to stakeholders while organizing, tracking, and coordinating with vendors and internal teams to deliver new backbone capacity. Partnering with capacity planners and engineers, you will ensure the most efficient and cost-effective network topology is delivered. You will collaborate with finance partners on budget creation, business case development, deal analysis, and supplier invoicing.
Additionally, you will track telecommunications market trends and developments in vendor technologies, coverage, cost structures, and deal frameworks. By applying a unique blend of industry and technology experience, you will work with both external partners and internal teams to find creative, cost-effective, and innovative solutions to meet Amazon's ongoing growth and expansion needs worldwide.
