Description

One Material Handling System (One MHS) is seeking a talented and motivated SR Manager Hardware Fulfilment Center Infrastructure Engineer (FCIE) to serve as the technical authority for electrical architecture and engineering within Amazon's global fulfillment center network. This role will lead the standardization and innovation of electrical systems for material handling operations, focusing on safety, scalability, and operational excellence. As part of OneMHS, you will transform how Amazon designs, builds, and operates its material handling capabilities through advanced electrical architecture, system networks and power system strategies.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with a proven track record in electrical system design, network architecture, power distribution, and controls engineering for complex material handling systems including tote/parcel conveyance and sortation. Our SR Manager, Hardware FCIE works closely with WWDE, Operations Engineering, strategic suppliers, and cross-functional teams to deliver robust electrical solutions while considering long-term system performance, policies, and maintenance programs.
This role requires the strategic vision to create electrical engineering standards that influence mechanical engineering design and develop multi-year roadmaps for system evolution. You will tackle intrinsically hard, complex, and ambiguous problems while creating solutions that are robust, efficient, scalable, and cost-effective. This position also demands tactical execution to standardize deliverable clarity and quality, promoting excellence in project delivery while maintaining the high standards that complex material handling systems require for optimal performance over time.


Key job responsibilities
As a SR Manager, Hardware FCIE, you will operate at the global infrastructure architecture level with influence across multiple teams and responsibility for complex, large-scale electrical systems. Your work will impact the entire organization's power infrastructure strategy and implementation for material handling systems.

Technical Leadership & Architecture:
•Serve as a trusted technical leader for global electrical infrastructure in material handling systems
•Set standards for engineering excellence at the architecture level for communication networks, power distribution and electrical devices.
•Design exemplary electrical architectures that are robust against failures, efficient, scalable, and cost-effective
•Take ownership of significant portions of electrical architecture including security, performance, availability, and operational aspects
•Lead design and implementation of large-scale or significantly complex electrical systems with long-term impact
•Establish best practices for panel placement, network design, grounding and safety circuit design
•Design modular and scalable electrical and network architectures that prioritize reliability, maintainability and performance

Systems Engineering & Innovation:
•Drive electrical system optimization for automation applications
•Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies including DC power systems and AI-powered diagnostics
•Implement remote monitoring and predictive maintenance solutions
•Use electrical reliability & maintenance expertise to perform gap assessments to industry standards
•Provide subject matter expertise in electrical distribution for material handling systems
•Perform detailed calculations to establish electrical standards and specifications
•Audit electrical system designs to identify opportunities and develop superior solutions
•Develop technology that creates or maintains competitive advantage in power systems
•Ensure designs have significant extensibility, performance, scalability, and security
•Develop and document repeatable electrical processes for scaled deployment

Program Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead complex material handling system implementations through standardized electrical execution
•Propose electrical innovations requiring multiple engineering teams to implement
•Divide electrical responsibilities to allow teams to work independently while creating integrated solutions
•Lead design reviews for complex and critical electrical systems at site, region, and architecture levels
•Coordinate between specialized technical resources to drive continuous improvement while maintaining project accountability
•Align teams toward coherent electrical architectural strategies
•Build consensus and harmonize differing views on power system approaches
•Manage relationships with 3P partners for electrical engineering, power system design, permitting, and installation

Knowledge Sharing & Mentorship:
•Educate the broader fulfillment center engineering community on advanced electrical and power system issues
•Keep senior management informed on electrical technologies and trends
•Participate in and present at internal conferences and Principal Engineer events
•Mentor other team members and help scale the organization
•Perform Principal promotion assessments
•Contribute to intellectual property (inventions, patents) in electrical engineering
•Support development of electrical implementation playbooks
•Ensure effective knowledge transfer and documentation

Project Execution & Risk Management:
•Execute electrical projects through all phases from initiation through commissioning
•Coordinate between specialized electrical technical resources while maintaining complete project accountability
•Drive continuous improvement in electrical project delivery methods and execution standards
•Maintain stakeholder alignment and satisfaction throughout project lifecycle
•Identify and mitigate electrical risks proactively
•Develop and document repeatable electrical processes for scaled deployment


A day in the life
Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support electrical system design with industry-leading performance in reliability, safety, and resilience. Develop mechanisms to assist in executing material handling system electrical implementations while establishing standardized processes for ensuring optimal electrical performance across facilities in future deployments. Create and deliver electrical project execution strategies and detailed plans to drive implementation from initiation through commissioning, ensuring program success across multiple simultaneous projects. Interface with strategic partners to ensure successful integration of Amazon-spec electrical equipment while maintaining the highest standards of electrical safety and performance.
