Description

We're looking for a designer to join the AWS Security portfolio (GuardDuty, Security Hub, Inspector, and related services) and help define what security experiences look like in an agentic-first world. You'll be embedded full-time in a builder pod alongside engineers, working on problems that span threat detection, investigation, posture management, and remediation — across AWS and multi-cloud environments.
This isn't a role where you hand off Figma files and wait. You'll prototype in code, ship alongside engineers, and iterate directly with security practitioners who operate under real pressure. If you're energized by complex, high-stakes domains and want to shape how millions of customers stay secure, this is the role.

Key job responsibilities
- Design end-to-end experiences for security workflows — from alert triage to investigation to remediation — across console, IDE, and agentic interfaces
- Define interaction models for agentic security capabilities: when the agent acts autonomously, when it surfaces recommendations, and how practitioners stay in control
- Work embedded in a builder pod (engineering, PM, science) with 100% allocation to your product area — no context-switching across unrelated projects
- Prototype in code (React/TypeScript) alongside engineers, not just in design tools
- Design for the full portfolio arc — stitching detection → posture → investigation → response into a coherent multi-cloud experience
- Conduct and synthesize research with security practitioners (SOC analysts, security engineers, CISOs) to ground design decisions in real workflows
- Contribute to front-end engineering when it accelerates shipping

A day in the life
You start the morning reviewing a GuardDuty finding that came in overnight — a customer's EC2 instance communicating with a known C2 server. Your pod is building an agentic workflow that auto-triages findings like this, and you're designing the moment where the agent recommends isolating the instance and asks the analyst to confirm. You sketch two interaction variants in Figma, then jump into the React prototype to wire up the confirmation flow against real sample data. By lunch, you're in a design review with your pod's engineers debating whether the agent should surface CloudTrail context inline or link out — you pull up research from a SOC analyst interview last week to settle it. In the afternoon, you pair with a front-end engineer to polish the investigation timeline component that stitches GuardDuty findings with Security Hub posture data. You push a PR. Before end of day, you join a 30-minute session with a customer's security team to watch them walk through their current incident response workflow — the gaps they describe will shape next sprint's design direction.

About the team
The SOGS Design and Research team shapes experiences across AWS Security, Search, Observability, and Governance—helping developers, SREs, and platform teams understand and operate complex cloud systems. Our team operates through experience builder pods, where designers partner closely with product and engineering to own outcomes end-to-end, from problem framing through shipped experiences. We focus on simplifying complex operational workflows, designing AI-assisted and agentic interactions, and creating scalable experience patterns that work across console and off-console surfaces. Our culture emphasizes craft, customer obsession, and experimentation. Designers here influence product direction, work on critical infrastructure used globally, and help define the future of AI-native cloud operations.
