The Generation Service Technician has safety, customer satisfaction, and business responsibilities within data center operations. The person in this role is responsible for identifying, troubleshooting, diagnosing and providing quality repairs of electrical generator systems and related engine mechanical failures. As both a technical expert and primary customer support liaison, the Generator Service Technician is responsible for maintaining consistent communication with clients to ensure an exceptional customer experience while maximizing data center availability. All necessary tools and equipment will be provided by AWS.


Key job responsibilities
* Adhere to and promote all company safety protocols, maintaining a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
* Actively engage in accident prevention initiatives and contribute to ongoing safety improvement efforts to foster a culture of workplace safety
* Travel within an assigned region to designated sites and perform professional quality field service repairs consistent with company standards
* Keep Generator Service Manager continually apprised of current priorities to assist in answering customer questions and problems when necessary
* Action requests for procurement of needed materials to perform assigned duties
* Document detailed, complete and correct descriptions of all repair operations performed
* Accurately record time, expenses, and mileage
* Lift up to 40 lbs; pushing and pulling a maximum force of 40 lbs
* Wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required and provided by AWS

A day in the life
The Generator Service Technician has safety, customer satisfaction, and business responsibilities within data center operations. The person in this role is responsible for identifying, troubleshooting, diagnosing and providing quality repairs of electrical generator systems and related engine mechanical failures.

The Generator Service Technician is both the technical expert and primary customer support contact to the customer, and is therefore responsible for continually communicating with the customer to provide an exceptional customer experience and drive data center up-time and availability.

About the team
This role acts as Amazon’s front line when it comes to hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment preventative maintenance (PM) and troubleshooting, reporting to a site’s Data Center Facility Manager (FM). They will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot mission-critical data center facility equipment including stand-by diesel generators and related fuel systems, 3 phase electrical systems such as switchgear, UPS units, PDUs, and wet cell batteries and associated systems. Mechanical equipment includes CRAHU units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, water systems, air handlers and associated systems, pumps, and motors. Additional support equipment is included in the scope of the role which includes fire/life safety equipment, building automation systems, and general facilities equipment.
