Description
Lead engineering efforts to support the mission of expanding access to Amazon’s Store by developing inclusive payment solutions for underserved customer groups. Partner with cross-functional teams to define and execute technical strategy for programs such as EBT, healthcare benefit integration, and AI-driven personalization, with a focus on delivering meaningful customer impact.
Amazon Access is focused on reducing barriers and making shopping more accessible and affordable for all customers, guided by the principle that “Success and scale bring broad responsibility.” In the role of Software Development Manager III, you will independently lead software teams responsible for building scalable technical foundations that enable millions of U.S. households — including low-income families, health benefit account holders, and Medicaid recipients — to use their benefits seamlessly on Amazon.
You will own the technical vision and execution across three strategic priorities:
Advancing growth through AI-enhanced personalization,
Broadening access via vendor partnerships and external system integrations,
And evolving core architecture to support long-term scale.
Your team will deliver technologies spanning payments infrastructure, classification systems, and customer experience enhancements that positively affect millions of customers who experience real challenges accessing e-commerce services.
Key job responsibilities
Strategic Technical Leadership
Establish and drive the technical roadmap for key initiatives that enhance accessible payment solutions and customer experiences.
Provide leadership and direction to software engineers working on personalized AI experiences, payment integration projects, and core architecture improvements.
Promote productivity and system efficiency by encouraging the thoughtful adoption of generative AI and simplifying complex system architectures.
Collaborate closely with senior technical leaders to build consensus and alignment around the technical vision and strategic priorities.
Cross-Functional Partnership
Work with product management using a customer-centric approach to translate user needs into effective technical solutions.
Partner with marketing teams to support AI-informed campaign automation and experiences that reflect customer lifecycle insights.
Engage with cross-organizational partners including Payments, Worldwide Grocery, Prime, and Health teams to deliver coordinated technical initiatives and integrated solutions.
