As an AMER Physical Security Program Manager (PSPM) in the Loss Prevention (LP) organization, this role will focus heavily on the project management of physical security hardware installation efforts across several business types within North America. The role is responsible for providing cross-functional team coordination, security vendor management, and subject-matter expertise to project stakeholders. PSPM’s ensure standardization and policies are adhered to in order to protect our most important assets: people, data and product.
A PSPM's first responsibility is to be each cross-functional teams’ physical security subject-matter expert (SME) and driver of Worldwide Operations Security (WWOS) build standards. These standards are critical for both internal and external security and are applied to every business unit in the company. Security infrastructure vulnerabilities identified before, or after, implementation require prompt remediation by a member of the Physical Security Program Management Team.
The PSPM manages small to large scale build projects with considerable impact and challenging business objectives. Physical security infrastructures are intricate systems to successfully implement and maintain. System susceptibilities can be subtle, so it is important to assess and manage risk through each milestone on the project's critical path. Technical acumen in this role is crucial, as the PSPM drives resolution to system vulnerabilities across the company and helps drive improvements to existing processes and technologies to ensure solutions meet WWOS standards.
The PSPM works across organizations. They may influence external security integrators, business partners, and other program managers. In addition to working with security infrastructures, the PSPM may support various business critical projects that may have a high-level team impact. This role independently engages with partners in Construction, Operations, Ops Tech Services (OTS), LP, the Security Integrations Group (SIG), in order to successfully complete projects meeting WWOS physical security standards.
Key job responsibilities
• Leads multiple physical security design and implementation building projects while proactively managing changes in project scope, identifying potential crises, and developing contingency plans to mitigate risk.
• Evaluates security engineering drawings to validate security system components are properly integrated in the facility design.
• Ensures projects are completed within the estimated budget, established timeline, and as designed while having the ability to course correct when needed without jeopardizing project completion.
• Actively partners with internal partners to ensure security is integrated into operations. Provides sound, factual advice to Operations and Loss Prevention leadership on security design and implementation processes.
• Solves complex problems through detailed interaction with multiple key stakeholders to ensure Amazon Global Security policy is implemented.
• Performs site testing & commissioning functions to validate integrity of a newly installed security standard and ensure the system was built in accordance with Amazon Global Security standards.
• Recognizes, adopts, utilizes and teaches “best practices” in the Physical Security Program, such as development of security frameworks, information security, security operations, security systems, policy, and response.
• Demonstrates a strong preference for assisting the business with achieving its goals by navigating a path to “yes.”
• Serves as the subject matter expert, understanding of the security threat environment, finding flaws in current process, partnering with internal customers for remediation.
• Ability to work unassisted and remotely with little oversight and guidance.
• Apply Lean methods to drive process improvements and increase efficiency
• Ability to travel up to 40%
