Description

Join the dynamic Transportation Services organization with Amazon's TOM (Transportation Operations Management) Yard Capacity team! We are seeking a talented individual contributor to support our growing transportation network in support of network projects, programs, and initiatives. This role offers flexible location options across these offices: Nashville, TN, Bellevue, WA or Arlington, VA.

As part of the TOM organization, you will be at the forefront of transforming how we plan for and operate our network of trailer yards. In this role, you will own the full lifecycle of complex, cross-functional, yard capacity planning programs and initiatives. You will manage capacity and risk identification, supporting a network of 500+ sites. You will work with network planning teams to forecast demand, engineering teams to evaluate how retrofits impact yard capacity and in yard throughput, build and use models to understand our ever-changing capacity, and define solutions that support the end-to-end supply chain. This role marries operational knowledge with exceptional statistical and analytical thinking as you will identify risk and influence upstream planning functions across design, real estate, and technology. In this role, you will communicate and collaborate with front-line to senior leaders in Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, Planning, Engineering, and Real Estate. You will be a part of a high-visibility program that helps to define the future of transportation through each mile of the Amazon supply chain.

Key job responsibilities
• Determine and gain alignment across TOM, Operations leadership, and planning teams on yard capacity inputs, thresholds, and risk identification across a network of 500+ sites

• Identify buildings at risk based on yard constraints and develop short- and long-term solutions, including evaluating the impact of engineering solves, retrofits, and network design changes on yard capacity and throughput

• Responsible for strategic yard capacity planning and forecasting, including long-term programs and network changes

• Map inter dependencies between technology, physical constraints, and engineering requirements to assess how upstream changes impact downstream operations

• Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, Planning, Engineering, and Real Estate to drive programmatic changes and yard capacity adoption

• Develop and automate capacity models to support dynamic network planning and end-to-end supply chain decisions

• Manage and deliver results on complex, cross-functional projects, communicating progress and risks to leadership

• Develop and govern KPI reporting across a portfolio of programs, providing visibility into milestones and performance

• Gather and analyze data to drive business decisions and continuously improve processes and remove cost from operations

A day in the life
Your day will involve working on large, cross-functional projects. This will include managing project deliverables, providing feedback on site and program requirements as well as communicating progress and risks to leadership.

You will collaborate closely with business line stakeholders, central planning, engineering, and real estate teams to drive adoption and intake of yard capacity thresholds.

Throughout this work, you will need to think expansively about how network changes and yard constraints can impact operations and capacity. You will be tasked with constantly exploring new, innovative ways to drive improvements and efficiencies.

About the team
The Yard Capacity Planning and Procurement Team optimizes Amazon's yard operations through integrated capacity planning and procurement solutions. We manage short-term capacity needs, mid-term optimization, long-term strategy, and yard procurement. Our mission is to ensure efficient utilization of trailer yards, while addressing capacity constraints across Amazon's logistics network. We collaborate across broad stakeholder teams to implement data-driven strategies that enhance yard management, achieve cost savings, and improve operational efficiency.
