Key job responsibilities
As part of this role you will be:
Designing and implementing system-level software on Kindle devices system, with deep involvement in framework customization and platform bring-up.
Owning and optimizing critical platform subsystems ).
Driving architectural decisions for platform-level features, balancing performance, power efficiency, and user experience on resource-constrained embedded devices.
Mentoring junior engineers, conducting design reviews, and raising the bar on code quality, testing practices, and operational excellence.
Collaborating cross-functionally with hardware, firmware, and application teams to deliver tightly integrated solutions from silicon to screen.
Investigating and resolving complex system-level issues spanning kernel, HAL, framework, and application layers.
A day in the life
This hands-on coding position will actively involve you in Kindle platform development — profiling display latency, tuning power state machines, debugging kernel panics for Kindle-specific hardware. You'll work on new device bring-up and with application teams to ensure platform APIs meet product requirements. You'll gain deep expertise in Kindle system while shipping software to millions of customers worldwide.
