Description

Lead development of solutions putting food on the table of Amazon's worldwide grocery customers.

Amazon is transforming the way that people shop for groceries. We're looking for a Software Development Manager to lead the team that owns dispatching and delay detection for millions of shoppers worldwide. This is a chance to shape how same-day delivery works at scale, from order to delivery.

As a Software Development Manager, you will be equal parts people leader, technical strategist, and customer advocate. You'll work with a team excellent of software engineers in Brisbane using industry leading AI tools to design, build and operate the systems that power key parts of the post-purchase experience across multiple countries.

Your day-to-day work will involve defining the technical direction for your team's products, collaborating with product managers, UX designers, and operational leaders to solve customer problems, and growing your engineers into their next roles.

Key job responsibilities
- Define and communicate a clear technical vision and roadmap for your team's products, working backwards from customer needs to prioritise what gets built and in what order.
- Hire, develop, and retain a high-performing engineering team by providing coaching, feedback, and meaningful growth opportunities for engineers at all levels.
- Incorporate AI efficiencies into the software development lifecycle, leveraging AI as a productivity accelerant while applying your team's critical thinking and judgement.
- Partner with product management, design, and business stakeholders to translate ambiguous problems into well-scoped deliverables with measurable customer outcomes.
- Own the operational excellence of your team's systems, including availability, performance, and incident response, ensuring a reliable experience for customers at scale.

- Drive architectural decisions and technical trade-offs, staying close enough to the details to ask the right questions while empowering your engineers to own implementation.
