Description

At Amazon, safety is foundational to everything we do. We are working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people. If you'd like to help us build the place to find and buy anything online, this is your chance to make history.

The One MHS (OMHS) team is seeking a Principal Functional Safety Engineer to lead the development and implementation of end-to-end safety strategies for complex automated systems. This leader will set the bar for machine safety and functional safety integration across Amazon’s global operations network.

The successful candidate will be a recognized expert in functional safety, with deep knowledge of standards such as ISO 13849, IEC 62061, and IEC 61508. They will drive scalable safety architecture, influence early design decisions, and mentor teams across engineering, R&D, and operations. This role requires a mix of technical depth, systems thinking, and strong cross-functional leadership to ensure safety is designed in — not bolted on.
As the Principal Functional Safety Engineer, you will partner with internal customers to assess risk, define safety functions, validate safety performance, and continuously improve system reliability. You will raise the bar on Amazon’s global safety standards by developing innovative solutions that enable automation at scale — safely.
