The Amazon Robotics (AR) Operations organization oversees the manufacturing of high-quality robotics and gets the right materials to the right place at the right time to enable our automated solutions. It’s a fast-paced operation that works cross-functionally with teams across Amazon globally, and is driven by data and performance indicators. Within this group, the Manufacturing Test and Controls (MTAC) team is the center of excellence for ensuring every product meets our rigorous standards for quality and reliability.
We are seeking a talented and motivated Sr. Manufacturing Test Engineer to lead test strategy development and implementation for our complex robotic systems. This role will drive technical excellence and innovation in our manufacturing test processes, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
Key job responsibilities
- Actively foster and drive a culture of inclusion and technical excellence
- Lead test strategy development and implementation for complex robotic manipulation systems and industrial automation products
- Architect scalable test solutions for deployment across multiple manufacturing sites
- Drive technical decisions for test infrastructure, automation frameworks, and equipment selection
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across projects
- Design and implement comprehensive test solutions for robotic arms, end-of-arm tooling, and control systems
- Lead Design for Testability (DfT) initiatives and participate in product design reviews to ensure manufacturability and serviceability
- Develop and maintain test technology roadmap aligned with future product needs
- Drive continuous improvement in test processes and methodologies
- Evaluate and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
- Manage relationships with external vendors and contract manufacturers for test equipment development and deployment
- Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures
- Up to 20% travel required, including international travel

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing test engineering or closely related field
- Demonstrated experience in developing and deploying Automated Test Equipment (ATE) for complex electro-mechanical systems in a high-volume production environment.
- Proven hands-on experience in developing tests for at least two of the following: PCBA, Camera/Vision Systems, or Motor/Actuator Systems.
- Proficiency in at least one industry-standard test development environment (Python, LabVIEW, TestStand, or MATLAB/Simulink) for instrument control and data acquisition.
- Familiarity with industrial safety standards, Machine Safety PLCs, and their application in manufacturing test cells.
Preferred Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in Manufacturing Test Engineering, with a focus on NPI and robotics or complex automation products.
- Deep expertise with industrial communication protocols (EtherCAT, OPC UA. Modbus), and the integration of PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell) and Industrial PCs (IPCs) into scalable test solutions.
- Experience designing test solutions that interface with robotics platforms (e.g., FANUC, ABB, UR) for end-of-arm-tooling and system-level validation.
- Proven ability to utilize cloud-based data storage and analysis tools (e.g., AWS, S3) for test data visualization, quality enforcement, and yield optimization.
- Experience with advanced vision libraries (e.g., Cognex, OpenCV) for high-speed, high-accuracy measurement.
- Experience with manufacturing execution systems (MES) and quality management systems
- Experience managing cross-functional projects and initiatives

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
