American Express is on a journey to provide the world’s best customer experience every day. The Commercial Data Office (CoDO) team, within Global Commercial Services (GCS), is focused on powering the best customer experience and business growth through data. With continuous changes in the regulatory environment and ongoing innovation in the use of data, CoDO plays a key role in strengthening GCS’ strategy. In partnership with team across American Express, CoDO is tasked with building new, innovative data solutions for our customers, while adhering to regulations and data management best practices.
Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this role, Analyst, Process & Controls, is to support with Data Risk Management requirements for Commercial Data Office and Global Commercial Services. This role will be responsible for analyzing key control measures, including building reports and monitoring results. This role will report to the Manager, Process & Controls within CoDO.
Responsibilities
- Support transition of processes and measurements to new Enterprise Operational Risk Management framework.
- Provide analysis and support for CoDO team members in adherence to data risk policies
- Assist in development of new control measures and monitoring reports
- Provide extensive support to stakeholders through various compliance activities and ensure GCS is within threshold for AXP defined Control Metrics
- Assist in additional identification specific risks throughout business processes and systems
- Categorize controls and map against risks and processes (e.g., process-control mapping)
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation
- Adhere to ad hoc compliance & risk management initiative SLAs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Academic Background
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, Risk Management, or an equivalent field.
Functional Skills/Capabilities
- Strong attention to detail with a relentless focus on accuracy, efficiency, and high quality
- Proven trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills in a data related role
- Effective written and oral communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task with high precision & deliver with quality and on time
- Strong critical thinker with the ability to analyze complex problems and perform in depth analysis
Technical Skills/Capabilities
- Strong experience and working knowledge in MS Office and collaboration tools (Confluence, Jira, Rally)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Tableau and other analytic tools knowledge are preferred
