We are seeking a passionate Lead Machine Learning Engineer specializing in agentic generative AI. You will help shape intelligent features for Apple’s flagship video editing products, including Final Cut Pro and iMovie. Your mission is to elevate the workflows of millions of creators by combining generative AI with Apple’s human-centered design principles.
Contribute to the technical vision and roadmap for agent-based features across our video editing suite. Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of AI agents: ideation, prototyping, evaluation, privacy and safety, productionization, deployment, monitoring, and iteration. Build and scale agents that can reason, plan, learn, use tools, and act across diverse user journeys and multimodal workflows. Develop novel evaluation methodologies and benchmarks for agent behavior; define and track clear success metrics. Design privacy-preserving architectures, with a focus on reliability, on-device capabilities, and user trust. Optimize agents for latency, scalability, cost, and quality across on-device and cloud environments. Partner closely with product, design, engineering, marketing, and research to turn high-impact ideas into robust, production-grade experiences. Mentor and elevate the team through best practices, code reviews, and technical guidance.
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have at least 5+ years of hands-on machine learning experience.
- MS or PhD in computer science, machine learning, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong Python skills
- Applied experience with a range of LLMs.
- Expertise in applying and extending agent frameworks (e.g., Google ADK, LangChain, MCP).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across teams.
- Proven track record building AI agents, tool-using LLMs, and multimodal LLM systems.
- Experience with reinforcement learning.
- Experience designing evaluation frameworks and metrics for agentic systems.
- Strong background optimizing agents for latency, scalability, and cost.
- Experience designing and implementing workflow orchestration and execution systems.
- Understanding of AI memory systems and long-term memory management.
- Bonus: Experience with Objective-C and Swift.
