The Components Engineering Team at Apple is responsible for identifying, documenting, and releasing efficient components from a variety of commodities for some of our products. The team is a multi-functional extension of the RF Hardware Design Engineering team focusing on ensuring that the right specific components are selected for every electrical component in the Product's Design. We are seeking a Component Engineer to join our team to drive the component selection process and perform your work in a consultative manner as the Domain Expert. Come Join Us!
The Individual in this role will have the opportunity to work on the intricate and complex issues impacting delivery for best-in-class Apple devices. Specific duties include but are not limited to: Supporting project teams as the resident component expert, suggesting alternate components and resolving component related issues. Reviewing BOMs to identify errors and potential sourcing issues as well as ensuring that the list of components is accurate, up-to-date, and procurable. Engaging with suppliers on new component development and qualification. Reviewing and evaluating component PCNs (Part Change Notifications) and failure analysis reports, assessing issues and risk to the project. Coordinating and tracking component root cause failure analysis and implementing corrective action. Documenting and releasing component specifications. Commodity research, including identifying supply chain opportunities and tracking supplier roadmaps. Managing component lifecycles.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related technical field required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of Industry Experience is required, with ~ 3 years of experience in Component Engineering or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and design processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Good understanding/Working knowledge of Engineering documentation (i.e. schematics, component data sheets, Gerber files, etc) and standard document control practices (Engineering Change Requests, Engineering Change Orders, deviations, etc.)
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $121,306 and $213,700 annualized, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
