As a manager within Special Projects, you will be part of a team creating new and innovative experiences for human interaction with generative AI. Your team will be directly responsible for developing cutting-edge, production-grade experiences across a large variety of iOS apps and frameworks. We work in a fast-paced, startup-like environment where you will be part of every stage of development. You'll often work cross-functionally with other software teams, user interface designers, product marketing, machine learning, and privacy engineers from concept phase to deployment. We are seeking a strong leader who can partner with senior leadership and other teams to drive features from product definition to release. The successful candidate will build and lead a highly talented, diverse engineering team of experienced and thoughtful engineers to enable industry leading customer experiences.
  • This position requires a self-motivated individual with strong technical, communication, people management, and project management skills to handle responsibilities including:
  • Build, mentor, and manage a team of high-performing engineers. Dedicate a good part of your time to foster talents, carve a path for each team member to grow and contribute to their full potential.
  • Provide strategic direction and technical leadership for delivering new delightful and high quality experiences enabled by genAI. Lead team to creatively and efficiently handle significant iteration and complex and condensed schedules.
  • Partner closely with other software engineering, ML, privacy, Design, and Product Marketing teams.
  • Present team’s work to leadership, communicating roadmap status, technical direction, and advocating for resources
  • Deliver complex, multi-year projects end-to-end while managing competing priorities.
  • Spot problems before they occur and proactively engage your colleagues to solve them together.
  • Defend and empower your engineering team, working to fix broken tools or processes and instilling a respectful, high-achieving team culture.
  • Dive deep into technical problems, make sound architectural decisions, and guide the team through complex trade-offs.
  • Drive initiatives that extend beyond your immediate team — from engineering best practices to hiring strategy and org development.
  • 6+ years of engineering management experience with a proven track record of building inclusive, high-performing teams through thoughtful hiring, mentoring, and talent retention.
  • Passion for and prior experience proactively driving feature definition, roadmap planning, and execution through shipping of outstanding customer focused user interfaces, starting from first principles and at the final stages obsessing over the details.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with high emotional intelligence and the ability to influence across all levels — from executive partners to individual contributors — and build strong cross-functional relationships.
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and strategic planning skills. Ability to manage resources effectively, represent the team and remove hurdles to enable each team member to operate at the highest level of efficiency and productivity.
  • Strong track record to navigate through ambiguous and fast-paced environments working with diverse teams on complex cross-functional projects.
  • Technical experience with native iOS development, a strong grasp of computer science fundamentals, development methodologies, and loves learning new technologies.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven mindset, with the ability to inform decisions through data.
  • Experience influencing engineering practices, processes, or standards at an organizational level.
  • Strong commitment to embracing and leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks and across the product development lifecycle, ensuring AI-assisted work produces high quality outcomes
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in computer science or a related field.
  • Prior experience as a second-level manager, hiring, developing, and mentoring first-line engineering managers.
