Apple's Media, Graphics, and Compute Technologies Group (MGC) is looking for a creative and dedicated engineer to join our Streaming Media team. This team delivers the technology that powers the media viewing and listening experiences across our entire ecosystem for both 1st party (TV+, Apple Music, Sports) and 3rd party content streaming services (Disney, Netflix, HBO). We are looking for a highly motivated senior software engineer to support us in the design and development of our next generation of media streaming technologies. As a Streaming Media Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing features in areas related to video streaming, web-based playback. You will contribute to overall media systems design, tune adaptation algorithms, and integrate ML models to build rich streaming features. You will also support our tools and data analytics teams to leverage tools and data to drive improvements in our player stack and collaborate closely with multi-functional teams to ensure end to end bring up of new streaming features. In all, you will craft protocols, implementations and services that bring the best and latest multimedia experiences to all of our customers.   • Responsible for developing features in areas related to video streaming, web-based playback.
  • Contribute to overall media systems design, network bandwidth estimation and media adaption algorithms, performance analysis and optimizations.
  • Support our media playback pipeline teams to build robust content protection/decryption support for our DRM technology (e.g., FairPlay Streaming).
  • Support our tools and data analytics teams to leverage tools and data to drive improvements in our player stack.
  • Collaborate closely with multi-functional teams to ensure end to end bringup of new streaming features.

  • Ability to understand end to end architectures and functional details of a complex system with multiple inter-dependencies
  • Experience working with audio visual media
  • Experience using LLMs in Software development
  • Strong software development experience in C / C++ for multi-threaded/systems development
  • Outstanding analytical, programming and debugging skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate and execute
  • BS/MS in CS/CE or equivalent with 3-5 years of experience
  • Experience in the field of video streaming, including knowledge of commonly used streaming protocols such as HLS, DASH, WebRTC, etc.
  • Proficiency in Swift and/or Python
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals
  • Experience in ad delivery is a plus but not required
  • Familiarity with low latency streaming technologies and associated challenges
  • Demonstrated ability to work with large cross-functional teams
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
