Our Commerce Engineering Program Management team works to enable subscriptions, promotions and much more across Apple’s Services for hundreds of millions of customers worldwide. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Engineering Program Manager to join our Data Platform team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the planning, execution, and delivery of data engineering and analytics solutions. You will collaborate closely with data engineers, data analysts, product managers, and stakeholders across the organization to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality data products and services. You will drive adoption of the data platform and equip engineering teams with robust data insights.
As an Engineering Program Manager within the Data Platform team, you will play a critical role in enabling data-driven decision-making. You will oversee a platform responsible for secure data ingestion, storage, management, real-time and batch processing, data transformation, and analytics, among other critical functions. You will be responsible for managing complex projects related to data ingestion, processing, storage, and delivery, ensuring alignment with business needs and technical requirements. You will work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and driving continuous improvement in our data engineering and analytics processes. Your ability to communicate effectively, build strong relationships, and drive results will be essential to your success.   • Drive Program Roadmap and Strategy: Define and execute the roadmap for scalable data platforms, empowering development teams to efficiently ingest, store, process, transform, and analyze data.
  • Program Ownership and Use Case Identification: Proactively engage with internal partners to identify high-impact use cases, build strong business cases, and define detailed requirements and product specifications. Lead cross-functional discussions with stakeholders to prioritize and establish a strategic program roadmap.
  • Establish and Maintain Feedback Loops: Develop and sustain a robust feedback loop with stakeholders, partners, and users to drive iterative improvements, ensuring that products continuously evolve to meet user needs and program objectives.
  • Define Success Metrics: Assist in the development and monitoring of key product metrics that align with broader product goals, enabling clear measurement of data platform success and impact.
  • Support Product Adoption and Evangelism: Support efforts to promote platform adoption, ensuring awareness, and aligning stakeholders on the platform’s value across the organization.
  • Foster Cross-Functional Relationships: Build strong, collaborative relationships across the organization, facilitating seamless communication between divisions and fostering a unified approach to program goals.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of data engineering and analytics projects, ensuring on-time and within-budget completion.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocation.
  • Identify and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies, escalating as needed.
  • Track project progress, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and report on project status to stakeholders.
  • Drive process improvements and standardization within the data engineering and analytics domain.
  • Ensure adherence to data governance policies and security standards.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our data platform.
  • Champion best practices in project management and software development methodologies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering program management, with a focus on data engineering and/or analytics.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, and data modeling techniques.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Asana).
  • Proven track record of contributing to the successful delivery of data-related projects.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience participating in feedback loops with stakeholders.
  • Experience contributing to the definition and monitoring of key product metrics.
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Superset, Power BI).
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of data governance principles and practices.
  • Experience in automating data pipelines and infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with using OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) to drive clear, measurable product outcomes.
  • Ability to partner with product and engineering teams to translate user needs into actionable requirements.
  • Uses data and metrics to support assumptions and make informed recommendations.
  • Proactive and strategic problem-solving skills.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $141,800 and $258,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
