As a Senior System Software Engineer, you will design and develop software across Apple operating systems (iOS, macOS, and beyond) for a wide range of audio features and functionality. A core part of this role involves designing and building frameworks that expose and advertise AirPods capabilities to the broader Apple software ecosystem, enabling other teams and features to leverage the full power of AirPods hardware. You'll collaborate closely with design teams and cross-functional partners — including the AirPods firmware team — to prototype, architect, and deliver software solutions for audio accessories. What we're looking for: - A strong software engineer with a passion for building exceptional products - Someone who thrives in a cross-functional environment and takes ownership from concept to ship - A driven problem-solver who wants their work to be experienced by millions of people every day
  • You have 5+ years experience in software design/programming with C++, Swift, or Objective-C
  • You have a solid understanding of object-oriented methodologies, multi-threaded programming and operating systems concepts
  • You're experienced with wireless or audio solutions
  • You have strong debugging skills
  • You have a BS or MS in CS, EE, or related
  • You're experienced working with wireless technology, (Bluetooth or Wi-Fi)
  • You have experience with SW audio features like Telephony audio or Bluetooth audio
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
