Apple’s Biophotonics Group is seeking a scientist for analysis of clinical datasets. The candidate will join a team of innovative scientists and engineers to design, validate, and implement the next generation of bio-sensing technologies. The ideal candidate will have experience with analysis and interpretation of multivariate and time-series datasets, optimizing data visualization for user-facing features in shipping products, and simulation of health-sensing data.
- Analyze, interpret, and report on study data conducted with Biophotonics prototypes
- Simulate effects of instrumentation error structure and real-world artifacts on sensor outputs
- Work with the Biophotonics analysis and algorithm-development teams to mine existing sensor datasets and articulate future study needs
- Work with cross-functional partners to develop figures of merit and visualization schemes to optimize user experience
- Identify and mitigate potential failure modes, corner cases, and long-tail scenarios.
- Explore complex datasets creatively to uncover hidden patterns, trends, and insights
- BS degree in mathematics, science, or an engineering discipline
- Programming experience in MATLAB or Python for data analysis
- Experience with data visualization and development of figures of merit to optimize end-user experience
- Experience with maintaining code repositories (Git) and analysis in secure cloud-based environments
- 3+ years of industry experience
- MS or PhD degree in mathematics, science or an engineering discipline
- Demonstrated experience analyzing/interpreting wearable biomedical sensor data from humans
- Experience with noise modeling, principles of error propagation, and their impacts on time-series data
- Interest and ability to learn principles of Biophotonics instrumentation
- Experience with multivariate analysis techniques such as PCA and linear regression
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
