Joint Mobile Engineering Team(JMET) is an unusual security engineering group within Apple’s Information Systems and Technology Group. We provide critical services for the company across every product line. From manufacturing to customer facing, our services span across the entire lifecycle of most Apple hardware. We are responsible to design, implement and support the ongoing need to improve customer safety and privacy by providing security services that are tightly coupled with hardware. Many of our services are seen in iOS Security Guide or publicly discussed on internet forums. As an engineer, you will participate in initiatives that are important to the success of upcoming product launches and product security initiatives. You will also work with large cross functional teams to align the expectations and validate work you're doing.
We are looking for a motivated and talented experienced Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to own the design and implementation of the quality assurance process, ensuring the delivery of high quality software products in a distributed environment. In this role, you will drive quality and quality-related development work in all team projects. You will work alongside the software development and SRE teams to acquire in-depth knowledge of how each application works in terms of business logic, security aspects, development environments, and production environments. You will design, implement and maintain automation roadmap for complex services, while also driving advancements in test strategies.
- Strong software engineering foundation with hands-on proficiency in Java and C, and working knowledge of Python, Bash, and scripting for QE tooling; experienced with REST API testing, relational and NoSQL databases, and the ability to review software architecture for testability and maintainability.
- Deep understanding of security and embedded systems concepts including PKI, X.509, ASN.1, key exchange and authentication protocols, with solid experience working in Unix/Linux environments
- Experienced in designing and building test automation frameworks for cryptographic components across unit, integration, and system levels using TestNG, JMeter, or equivalent tools.
- Strong QE methodology knowledge with a solid grasp of SDLC best practices, CI/CD concepts, and the ability to build and maintain automation for complex full-stack applications.
- Skilled debugger and problem solver with strong root cause analysis capabilities across both hardware and software layers.
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills and a proven ability to manage priorities across concurrent release cycles.
- Up-to-date with current and up-coming QE technologies and frameworks
- Experience contributing to or reviewing threat models and security test plans
- Understanding of FIPS 140-2/3 standards and cryptographic module validation testing
- Experience with performance and scalability testing
- Passion for driving quality into every aspect of a project
- Ability to work with cross functional and globally distributed teams
- Familiar with Agile workflow management
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent
- 6+ years of experience in relevant fields
